What’s on your list of things to let go?

Here’s mine.

The New Year is always a great time to reflect on the past. Last week, I offered you a free Goals Reflection Workbook because it’s been proven that self reflection is an important tool at any stage of your career and your life. The reflection process is also a great time to let go of whatever is holding you back from reaching new goals in your life. As inspiration for you to LET GO, I’m sharing some of the things that are on my  list today and things I’ve  let go of in the past.

Letting go of:  Second guessing myself.  Even when what I already have is good  enough (and I know it is), I go back and forth about whether or not I should put it out there for the world. From now on, if I believe in it you’ll see it.

Letting go of: Waiting for the other shoe to drop.   With all the successes I’ve had over the past two years, sometimes I feel like  it’s all too good to be true; so I’m  constantly guarding my heart and creating back up plan, after back up plan. I’ve come to realize this is wasted time and energy. It’s time to let go and live in the moment.

Letting go of: Staying up too late. I can literally walk through the house, turn out all the lights, check the door locks and be ready to head up for bed. And then…. I stop in the office to turn off the computer, which leads to checking emails, which leads to working for another 3 hours.

An article in Popular Science says that you take yourself into a state of sleep deprivation when you get less than the recommended minimum of seven hours of sleep.  Believe it or not, if you say up several more hours past the minimum, you can boost your emotional anticipation of negative experiences by 60% AND put yourself at risk of being at the same mental impairment as a 0.05% blood alcohol level. Seriously, I’m going to bed.

Letting go of: Fear of being disliked. I’ve learned that it’s better to be respected than to worry so much about being liked. You open the door for people to take advantage of you, when they know you are so desperate to be liked.

Now it’s your turn. Don’t just think about it. Download this worksheet  and take out pen and paper and write down those things you know you need to let go, so you can get on with reaching some of the new goals you have for yourself.

P.S. Pay it Forward. Pin or right click to download and share the graphic below on Instagram or Facebook. In your comments, list something you plan to let go so it can be inspiration to someone else. Don’t forget the hashtags #PlanWellLiveMore #MoreLife so I can find you.
